What Is A Single Hand Watch?
A single hand watch uses only one hand to show the time. Some single hand watches have only hour markers, some have markers in 5, 10 or 15 minute increments. Some single hand watches have no markers at all. With a single hand watch, you can get a sense of time easily with one glance. Wearers of single hand watches like the ethos of living a more relaxed life, not getting stressed by the minute to minute. These watches are recreating history - early clocks and watches only had a single hand. Minute hands would not appear on watches until 1675.

BOTTA DESIGN WATCHES
Botta was one of the first watch manufacturers to produce a single hand wristwatch. Made in Germany, their single hand watches are lightweight, with a classic design and winners of multiple design awards. They produce a variety of single hand watches. The Uno shows time with each line representing 5 minutes. The Uno 24  features an entire day at a glance and the Nova, featured here is for the truly relaxed, showing only the hour markers.

DEFAKTO WATCHES
German-Made, bauhaus inspired watches. Defakto currently have 3 styles of single hand watches in their collection. The original Eins (meaning one). the Meta and the Mono. Simplistic, clean-looking designs with a quartz movement or autaomtic movement. The watch featured here is the Defakto Eins incognito. Each line represents 15 minutes.

KARL FALK WATCHES
Made in Germany.  The signature pieces of the collection are single hand watches in a range called the 'Einzeiger'. ('Einzeiger' means 'Single Hand' in German). The Einzeiger watches have a single hour hand which denotes the time in 5 minute intervals with every 15 minutes marked by a more prominent line. PITA WATCHES
Each Pita watch is hand-made in Barcelona by the AHCI Master Watchmaker, Aniceto Jiménez Pita.Since 1971, they have been crafting very interesting timepieces with unique time-displays.  There are two watches in their collection which tell time using the single hand principle - The Carousel and The Minimal. These watches are also unusual in that they do not have a crown. The time is set by twisting the back case. The watches are customisable and limited in numbers. The Midnight Planetarium Watch. The time is shown on this watch by the single hand principle. The shooting star shows the passage of time with each dot in between the hour marker representing 15 minutes on this 24 hour display.
