What Is A Snoopy Watch?
Snoopy Watches are watches which feature Snoopy, the famous dog from Peanuts, on the dial, caseback, strap, or other parts of the watch. Several watch brands have produced watches which feature Snooy including, Timex, Swatch and Omega. Snoopy watches have become a popular watch because of NASA. Snoopy became associated with NASA's space programme because NASA issued a 'Silver Snoopy Award' badge for outstanding achievements for people who contributed to flight safety and mission success.
The award is associated with watchmaking because NASA presented the award to Swiss watch brand Omega in 1970. During the aborted Apollo 13 mission, an Omega Speedmaster chronograph was used by the crew to accurately time a critical 14-second engine burn, enabling their safe return to Earth. Omega has since released highly sought-after commemorative "Silver Snoopy Award" collector's editions of the Speedmaster Moonwatch.
